Boundary Commission

The Local Government Boundary Commission for England has been carrying out a review of electoral and boundary arrangement for English councils.

Under the original proposals Piddington and Wheeler End parish area would have become part of a very large Chiltern Villages ward which extends from Fawley and Turville to the West, up towards Downley and as far South as Marlow – so we would be a very small part of a large ward.

An alternative proposal was put forward by Darren Hayday, which was supported by Piddington & Wheeler End Parish Council, and proposed a small ward including West Wycombe, Piddington, Wheeler End and Lane End.

The final recommendations were published in June 2023 and The Boundary Commission and they have supported the latter proposal – they are proposing a new ward called West Wycombe and Lane End. This will comprise the areas covered by Piddington & Wheeler End Parish Council, West Wycombe Parish Council and Lane End Parish Council – this means that we will not be swallowed up in to the large “Chiltern Villages” ward.

Thanks to everyone who submitted comments on these proposals – the high level of response is noted in the report attached – great to see that local views and community support have been acknowledged and hopefully got the best result for the area.

The proposals have to be ratified by parliament and will be in place for the next local elections in 2025.
